Therapeutic Terms & Conditions
Last updated: April 2026
We would like to extend a warm welcome as you begin your journey with therapy. This contract aims to establish a transparent and mutually respectful therapeutic relationship. Please review the terms outlined below.
Nature of Therapy & Approach
Therapy is a collaborative process between you and the therapist. The therapist is committed to providing compassionate, trauma-informed, and personalized care tailored to your unique needs. There may be multiple interventions used to address your concerns, and these may evolve as therapy progresses. While therapy often leads to improvement, outcomes cannot be guaranteed.
Professional Relationship & Boundaries
The relationship between client and therapist is strictly professional and therapeutic. To preserve this:
- The therapist cannot engage in personal, social, business, or dual relationships with clients
- Gift-giving, bartering, or exchanging services is not permitted
- The therapist cannot act as a friend or participate in personal relationships
- If you encounter each other socially, the therapist will not initiate contact to protect your confidentiality
- If both parties are part of the same social/professional group, the therapist may withdraw from the therapeutic relationship to maintain ethical boundaries
Process & Responsibilities
Your responsibility is to actively participate in sessions by discussing your emotional, behavioral, interpersonal, or any other distress you are experiencing. The therapist cannot be held responsible for adverse events such as lack of improvement, deterioration, or risk of harm during/after intervention. Therapy may be paused, redirected, or discontinued if no longer beneficial. Referrals to other professionals may be made in your best interest.
Client Rights
You have the right to:
- Decline any technique or intervention
- Ask questions and raise concerns
- Review your records
- Withdraw or terminate the therapeutic relationship at your will
- Return to therapy later if desired
- Have your information kept confidential, except in legally or ethically mandated situations
Appointments & Session Structure
Sessions are offered:
- In-Person: Kandivali, Mumbai · 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM
- Online: Via Google Meet (scheduled through Calendly)
- ~50 minutes per session · Typically 4–8 weekly sessions
- Languages: English, Hindi, Gujarati
- May include home-based exercises
Fees & Payments
To confirm a virtual appointment, fees must be paid 24 hours prior. Failure results in automatic cancellation. Session extensions incur 25% extra per 15 minutes. Agreed fees remain fixed for one year. Fees are subject to annual revisions. If payments are not made, the therapist reserves the right to terminate therapy.
- Payment via Paytm, GPay, NEFT, or cash (in-person sessions)
Delays, Cancellations & No-Show Policy
- Client late → session ends at the original time
- 15+ minutes late → session marked as no-show
- Therapist late → full time adjusted or credited
- 12+ hours notice → no penalty, session rescheduled
- Less than 4 hours notice / no-show → 50% fee charged
- Therapist cancellation → session rescheduled with no charge
Refund Policy
All therapy fees and packages are non-refundable. Exceptions may be reviewed only if the service falls outside the therapist scope of expertise. Decisions are final and case-specific.
Availability
For online sessions, the therapist is available per open Calendly slots, except personal holidays or illness. For in-person sessions, kindly connect via WhatsApp for scheduling. Unavailability will be notified within reasonable time.
Consent to Transfer
You agree not to take mental health services with the therapist privately (i.e., paying directly without informing Ms. Janvi Parekh) during or beyond their affiliation. If we discontinue working with a therapist, you consent to being transferred to another therapist on the team. By signing the consent form, you allow your case notes to be transferred and accessed only within the organization, kept strictly confidential.
Privacy & Confidentiality
All interactions regarding therapy services—scheduling, attendance, session content, progress, and records—are confidential and will not be shared without your knowledge. Information may be shared in mandated situations:
- If the client (or child) poses a threat of harm to self or others (collaboration with police/hospital)
- If a child under 18, elderly, or disabled person is at risk of abuse, neglect, or exploitation
- If the client is under 18, parents/legal guardians may access records and authorize releases
- If a court orders disclosure or a lawful subpoena is issued
- If we must cooperate with legal actions against a mental health professional by a licensing board
Emergency & Crisis Disclaimer
Suicide and self-harm are tragic events with profound impact. While every therapist makes sincere efforts to support clients and reduce risk, such acts can be impulsive and unpredictable. The therapist or Ms. Janvi Parekh cannot be held liable for actions outside scheduled sessions. We do not provide crisis intervention or emergency services. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services, a crisis hotline, or the nearest emergency room right away.
Participation in Legal Matters
We do not voluntarily participate in litigation, custody disputes, or legal proceedings. We do not communicate with a client attorney, nor write or sign letters, reports, declarations, or affidavits unless explicitly agreed at the start of the relationship. Records or testimony are provided only if legally required. If subpoenaed, the client agrees to reimburse us for preparation, travel, and attendance at standard professional rates.
Liability Disclaimer
The practice, therapist, and Ms. Janvi Parekh are not responsible or liable for any criminal or unlawful actions committed by clients or associated independent professionals.
By booking a session, you consent to these terms. To complete the formal consent form, please fill out the embedded Google Form below or on the booking page.
